Blake Shelton Upset About Gwen Stefani Delaying Wedding?_1

Is Blake Shelton upset with Gwen Stefani because she keeps delaying their wedding? That’s the bogus story in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

Last weekend, Shelton officiated the wedding of fellow country star Trace Adkins and actress Victoria Pratt. According to the National Enquirer, the ceremony “left him down in the dumps” about his own nuptials to Stefani. The magazine says the country star is desperate to tie the knot with his girlfriend of four years, but she’s making him wait until her marriage to Gavin Rossdale is annulled by the Catholic Church.

A so-called “tipster” is quoted as saying, “Blake’s told Trace he’d love to get married again. He and Gwen have been solid as a couple for four years now and he’s desperate to walk her down the aisle, but she says they have to wait until she can get permission to marry in the church.” The alleged insider adds, “He has a dream wedding planned, but is bummed out that it keeps getting pushed back.”

The tabloid’s fabricated report is based on a storyline that Gossip Cop has already corrected. Back in March, we busted the Enquirer for wrongly reporting that Stefani was begging Pope Francis to annul her first marriage so that her marriage to Shelton would be recognized by the Catholic Church. The outlet alleged at the time that the No Doubt singer was planning a trip to the Vatican so she could make her appeal to Pope Francis in person.

Stefani’s spokesperson assured us in March that the premise was completely made-up. In July, however, the magazine published a phony follow-up story about Rossdale blocking Stefani’s ability to marry Shelton by refusing to have their marriage annulled. That narrative wasn’t true either, and this latest article on the subject doesn’t mention why the singer never went to Rome for a sit-down with the pope, or anything about Rossdale standing in her way.

Meanwhile, the Enquirer has trouble keeping track of its fake storylines. Just a few weeks before the article involving Stefani and Pope Francis, the tabloid had insisted that Stefani and Shelton were preparing for a wedding and a baby. That article even include a line about marriage being “just a formality” for the couple. As for a baby, the passage of time has disproven that scenario as well. The reason the magazine’s articles are so contradictory is because they’re simply untrue.
